Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor, said: “We found that few children remain rear-facing after age 1, fewer than 2% use a booster seat after age 7, many over age six sit in the front seat.”

The team also noted that a higher percentage of minority children were transitioned to seat belts prematurely.

“The most important finding from this study is that, while age and racial disparities exist, overall few children are using the restraints recommended for their age group, and many children over five are sitting in the front seat. Our findings demonstrate that not all children have been reached equally by community-based public education campaigns and the passage of child safety seat laws in 48 states. Further development and dissemination of culturally specific programs that have demonstrated success in promoting restraint use among minority children are necessary. Further, the findings may also help in developing strategies to lower the racial and ethnic disparities seen in children experiencing crash-related injuries.”

Insurance companies will be barred from imposing a dollar limit on people’s benefits. For people with complex, chronic illnesses, such as HIV, this will help ensure that the insurance they’ve paid for will be there when they need it.

Starting in 2014, small businesses and low- to moderate-income individuals without employer-sponsored health insurance will be able to purchase private coverage through state health-insurance exchanges. People with income up to 400 percent of the federal poverty level (up to about $45,000 for an individual and $92,000 for a family of four) will receive federal tax credits and subsidies designed to make insurance more affordable.

The ACA also creates the most significant change to Medicaid since the program’s inception in 1965 — one that will have the biggest impact on HIV-positive people. Medicaid is already the largest source of health insurance for people living with HIV. But Medicaid as it exists now is not a health-care system — it is a disability-care system. Contrary to what many people believe, being poor is not currently enough to qualify for Medicaid. A person must be not only low-income but also fit a particular eligibility category, such as being a child, being pregnant or being disabled. In the context of HIV, this means that an HIV-positive person must become disabled by AIDS, such as by developing opportunistic infections like lymphoma or encephalopathy, before becoming eligible for the medical care that could have prevented the disease from progressing in the first place. Having people to exercise with introduces elements of camaraderie, competition, and support. Adding social interaction creates a more exciting, and stimulating environment in which to work out. 3. Shorten the Length of Exercises- Once people get to a set routine, they often become reserved to a certain time limit. People get time confused amid productivity. Shorten up your routine, but give a higher quality intensity. If you close your workout in 20 minutes, then simply stop; and do not feel obligated to hit a certain time mark. Its better to get 20 minutes of exercise if you can stay excited up it, than to burn yourself out on hour long routines.

4. Do Yoga- Practicing Yoga is a great way to increase overall fitness and flexibility. In addition to the clear physical advantages of yoga, the practice can significantly reduce stress. Getting involved with yoga is a great alternative workout that you can fit to any routine.

5. Play Games!- Get involved in a sport too you love. Substitute a night of your standard for playing in a basketball/softball league, or taking karate/kickboxing. Even a day of skiing or golf burns a substantial amount of calories, and keeps you pleased at the same time.
